Art & Design
The Art and Design Department gives all pupils the opportunity to use a wide range of media. Pupils enjoy learning new skills and techniques as they creatively explore various topics within our areas of learning.
The building and refurbishment of our extremely well resourced Art Suite was completed in 2015. The G. Hampton Art & Design Suite consists of 2 spacious classrooms complete with full ceramic production facilities and a Digital Studio equipped with iPads, P.C.s and Design Software. We also have a spacious entrance hallway which has lots of display space for the exhibition of our pupil’s work.
Art and Design Curriculum Overview
Year 8
Term 1: Our focus is Colour using a variety of different media and learning about Art movements.
Term 2: Same (gargoyles and myth creatures), except take out digital media and textiles please. Term 3 : Using iPads to create a moving images/animation.
Year 9
Term 1: Our focus is Nature though Texture & Printmaking.
Term 2: Embroidery techniques producing a final textiles outcome.
Term 3: A Still life observational drawing unit.
Year 10
Term 1: Our focus is Portraits using multimedia.
Term 2: Abstract/expressive Art through relief construction and large scale paintings based on Identity.
Term 3: Graphics Unit using digital media and AI to visualise concepts and to create a final design.
